But that's not the point. I *have* an Ultra 4, not an Ultra 6 or Pro 6. My assumption is that I'm not the only Ultra 4 owner who'd like to run this setup and perhaps someone has found any alternatives or workarounds.
I've done some digging into this. Plex' live transcoding means that as soon as its transcoded a section of media, it sends it to the client for playback. This works, but too slow for the actual playback. For instance, it needs about 5 seconds to transcode a section and send it. But some sections are shorter then 5 seconds. So somewhere a log the line, this becomes a race between the transcoder and the playback: who runs out first? And the transcoder usually loses.
So, does ANYONE have any idea how to transcode *before* playback, *OR* have Plex Media Server transcode more sections before it starts playback (like a larger buffer). So far I ahevn't found a way to change the way Plex works...
