ReadyNAS2100 iSCSI expansion to use unallocated space
We have a ReadyNAS2100 with 4 x 450GB disks.
Firmware 4.2.20-T42
These have been provisioned to provide 1.8TB of space.
Only 1.2TB has been allocated. 1 x 600GB and 2 x 300GB LUNs
To expand the iSCSI Lun from 600GB to 750Gb is it as simple as:
1) stop the iSCSi initiator on the Windows Servers
2) expand the drive and reboot the NAS
3) restart the iSCSi initiator on the Windows Servers
Please note the Windows Servers are Virtual Machines using W2008 running on VMWare
Many Thanks

So you're using RAID-0? That's quite risky.
It would be advisable to update your regular backup before starting this process.
Also, why are you running extremely old beta firmware? You should not continue running beta firmware after a production update is available.- aich2017Aspirant
Hi
Thanks for your prompt response.
As you can tell this is a legacy NAS and we inherited the config.
We just want to expand the iSCSI Lun
Is it as simple as my original request?
- stop the iSCSi initiator on the Windows Servers
- expand the drive and reboot the NAS
- restart the iSCSi initiator on the Windows Servers
or is there something else we need to consider?
Many Thanks
best regards

That should work fine however it is advisable to update your regular backup before doing that e.g. using software on the PC the initiator is on. Important data should be backed up regularly.
