Readynasd consumes 100% CPU

This issue is affecting both my NAS boxes; an RN102 and an RN212. They are both running OS6.10.2.

This morning I noticed that both my NAS boxes were running at 100% CPU. PUTTYing in and running top(1) revealed that in both cases the CPU hog was readynasd.  Stopping the readynasd process with a kill -9 has fixed the issue for now.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Was it running a scrub or balance at the time?  I don't believe they should cause that problem, but I have seen it occur with a scrub, even on a more powerful NAS.

I don't think so. I've not set up any volume schedules and there's nothing in the logs.
