Rebuilding ReadyNAS NV+ for Apple TV

I've got an NV+ with 4x2TB and an ATV2 running everything wirelessly, But as stated, my Mac needs to be on and running iTunes to view anything on the ATV2.
My iTunes library wirelessly sees everything on the NV+ and then Wirelessly airplays to the ATV2 without a hitch... My biggest issue has been converting everything to ATV format... long and slow process, but will be worth it in the end.
I realise I could JB my ATV and run XBMC to play my vids without my mac turned on, but the ATV is only 2 weeks old and I'm not feeling up to JBing it just yet.
Life would be a lot easier if there was a plugin for the NV+ to enable the ATV2 look directly at it... like maybe an adaption of the itunes server thats on the NV+ already.
Does anyone know of anything like this? or is my only ways to JB the ATV2 and put XBMC on it?
