$RECYCLE.BIN - rync backup via USB port (ReadyNAS 314)
Hi All
I've search the forums, but can't see an answer which meets this specific issue. I am using a ReadyNAS 314 and backing up via rsync onto an external USB device.
On my shares I have a selection of folders called "$RECYCLE.BIN", and ideally I don't want to back them up. However, the software won't let me add in this folder name to the exclude list (I get no error, just the box title goes red, and I can't press Apply). I'm assuming it's the dollar sign causing problems here, how can I get around this?

- fastfwdVirtuosoIf it really is the dollar sign that's causing the problem, see whether using the wildcard "?" is allowed:
?RECYCLE.BIN/
The trailing slash ensures that only directories -- not files -- with this name will be excluded, and the absence of a leading slash means that directories with this name will be excluded regardless of where they are in the directory tree. - HazimilAspirantHi, thanks for the advice. Unfortunetly, it doesn't accept ? either.
