remove inactive volumes to use the disk # 2,3,5,6

StephenB My RN316 is configured on Raid 5 with 6 disks. Disk 4 degraded. It took long to replace the degraded disk. On replacing disk 4, disk 1 became inactive and missing. The NAS did not resync, but instead its gving me the error "remove inactive volumes to use the disk # 2,3,5,6" and when i go to shares, it says No vulumes exists. NETGEAR recommends that you create a volume before configuring other settings. How can i make it to rebuilt tha data or i need 2 disks. The new Disk 4 in the start was showing a separate volume but i formated it.

All the disks are red and showing that they are healthy.

Any particular reason for starting a new discussion thread?

    As I replied here:

Your only hope of getting the volume back (with your data) is to find a way to use one of the failed disks.  It cannot be rebuilt with two failed disks.

If one of the disks is working, then it might be possible to mount the array from ssh.  But if they have really failed, then your data is unfortunately gone.

You could try a data recovery service, as they might have tools that can get data off your failed drives.  It would be expensive.
