Replacing HDD in Ready NAS214

If it's one big volume, you can just replace the smaller disks one-by-one and let it rebuild, then the volume will grow automatically (have replaced 6x1TB disks with 6x2TB disks successfully with this method).

If you have two volumes and you want to ditch the second, move the data onto the first and extend the first, you'll need to move the data somewhere temporarily and destroy the second volume.

You can't replace both 2 TB drives with the 4 TB, but you can shift to 3x4TB+2TB.  If you want just 3x4TB, then you will need to start over, and restore the data from backup.

To go to 3x4TB+2TB you just hot-swap one of the 2 TB drives with the 4 TB (NAS running).  Then as dojobel says, it will resync.  Performance will be slower during this process, and the volume will be degraded (meaning it is not protected from another disk failure).

Your volume size will increase from 8 TB (~7.2 TiB) to 10 TB (~9 TiB)

It is best to update your backup of the data before manipulating disks.
