Restart web server without restarting NAS itself

Hi all,

I'm using a ReadyNAS 3200 and the web admin page isn't responding. It's mainly used for iSCSI which all seem to be working OK, so I assume it's just the in-built web server that's having an issue.

Is there a way to restart it the web svr, without having to restart the ReadyNAS itsself?

I tried to use Putty to SSH into it, but I dont know the root p/w and the normal one I use for 'admin' on the web admin page doesnt work either.

Thanks in advance.
Paul

Did you enable SSH for yourself or support? If so, which add-on did you install?

If you can't SSH in I don't think you can get in without rebooting the NAS.

If the only one you installed was ToggleSSH and SSH is still enabled I may be able to help if given some details. If the root SSH add-on was the one you installed then I wouldn't be able to login.
  • I don't know if the RN3200 has a serial port, if it has you can give it a try and see if you can login.
default SSH password should be "root" with the web interface "admin" password.
  • Hi,

Netgear support connected in via the serial port about 18 months to 2 years ago. I assume they enabled SSH if it wasnt enabled already.

The ReadyNAS is in a datacentre, so it's a bit difficult to connect a cable to the serial port (there's nothing plugged into it at the moment). It's something that I could do but it would take a while to arrange a site visit. If I use this method I'll try the suggestion by xeltros.. thanks.

I can establish an SSH connection on the NAS, I just have username/password issues, so I cant login. I've tried many combinations of the 'admin' and 'root' users with various passwords.

Does anyone know if there is any other way that this could be done remotely, so to avoid going onsite ?

    Many thanks,
    Paul
  • Hi,

Yes I get the login prompt.

I dont believe that there's a support contract in place. There certainly wasnt any extended support purchased, so I think that support would most likely be billable. I'd have to check whether that would be preferable, or if rebooting the NAS would be preferable :-)

    Unless support is free ?!

There is a 5 year warranty on the business line products, including the 3200. That applies if you are the original purchaser, it is not transferable.

"24/7 phone support is available..." doesn't necessarily mean included in the warranty for free though, since the heading is "warranty and support"
