RN102 6.4.0 official firmware update not posted? Still 6.2.5
My RN102 informs me the 6.4.0 is available so I used OS6's update mechanism - which left it at 6.2.5. I did this twice with no "upgrade" performed.
I then looked to manually download the file ...

Hello Jophus,
Please use http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29938 instead for downloading 6.4.0 firmware version.

Regards,
Thanks JennC. However Netgear are misleading users by stating a 6.4.0 update is available when the link clearly goes to 6.2.5. When will the correct Auto-notification update to 6.4.0 accurately link to the 6.4.0 update? Why notify of an update and link to an existing firmware version? Further - when will the official support site link to the correct firmware... on both the:
http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/RN10200#searchResults
and
http://support.netgear.com/product/RN10200
The "6.4.0" text links to a "6.2.5" file.
Come on guys... release it properly or don't release it at all!

Notwithstanding the posting of incorrect files on the Netgear support website - my RN102 won't upgrade when manually fed the 6.4.0 arm binary image.... stays at 6.2.5. The upgrade appears to work, askeing me to reboot.... but in my Ultra 6 log showed and entry:
Wed Oct 7 2015 14:58:59 System: Firmware was upgraded to 6.4.0. Wed Oct 7 2015 14:58:59 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Wed Oct 7 2015 14:55:16 System: The system is rebooting. The RN102 just reboots, shows "6.2.5" on the splash and then asks me to update to 6.4.0 again........

What is happening?

Hi, I have the same issue. Tried to install the 6.4.0 firmware automatically and manually several times but it´s still 6.2.5. I have tried different browsers (Firefox, Safari)

Hello fehler10,
Have you tried contacting support center? I see you still have one time exemption for the support.
Jophus Please contact support center too. You still have support warranty.

Hello Jophus,
When you click the 6.4.0 link at http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/RN10200#searchResults it downloads the zipped file and when you open it, it has 2 different files, the released notes and the IMG file which is the 6.4.0 firmware. I did this and was able to see the FW file.

The log suggests you have the correct firmware image, but something else is wrong. A filling OS partition is one thing that can prevent updates (and likely there are others).
You might need to contact support.
There is also the cheap but painful way out - try a factory reset and then upgrade. The rebuild the NAS, restore data from backup, etc.
JennC- The support page for the RN102 was definitely wrong yesterday. The 6.4.0 link pointed to the 6.2.5 zip. That is fixed now.

Hi,
Sorry, we fixed the downloadcenter to use the 6.4.0 binary instead of the 6.2.5 binary for the 6.4.0 release to ARM boxes. It should be the 6.4.0 binary now for those trying. The release notes page for 6.4.0 always listed correctly the 6.4.0 arm build. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29938
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNASOS-6.4.0-arm.zip
If your unit is not getting 6.4.0 update request automatically, check your network setttings (DNS, gateway) and confirm it has internet access.
If you're having another issue like where the ReadyNASOS seems to be restarting constantly, you might want to contact support or private message a link to your logs so I can just review what is going on. This could be caused by your browser caching the 6.2.5 interface instead of requesting the 6.4.0 interface. Sending old calls for data retrieval in the UI when they've been updated to a new version could be a cause for this. Thanks.

Hello kohdee. This stil hasn't worked for me on my RN102.
I used Chrome yesterday to both:
Auto-update via OS6 web interface AND
download and manually update via "Settings" using the image file INSIDE the zip file
Today I re-downloaded manually and tried again both:
In Chrome (auto and manual update), and
Edge (auto and manual update)
My box has now "updated" 10 times and I am still on 6.2.5 - and it still prompts me to download the update.....
This is not a good experience so far, both with the inconsistent posting of the update between webpage/system by Netgear and the fact that it just won't work.
I will just stay on 6.2.5 until Netgear sorts it out. Is there a way to disable the auto update notification?

Thanks to Khodee for looking into my ReadyNAS issue via remote diagnostics. Seems the downloaded update does not exhibit the expected checksum - so update fails.
Multiple efforts to update show multiple checksums - meaning no two update files uploaded to the ReadyNAS are the same.... After investigating a network/Jumbo Frames issue and reverting back to 1500MTU, the update failed again.
Looks like this is specific to my RN102 A factory reset is not palatable, as this is a backup box for my main NAS. My legacy Ultra 6 updated fine to 6.4.0, with Jumbo Frames enabled - indicating it is not my network that is the issue - it is in the RN102 somewhere. The data on the RN102 also checks out - checksum compare of primary to backup files is equivalent.
Seems my RN102 is staying on 6.2.5 for the foreseeable future.
