RN102 vs RN104 transfer speed

Hi,

I have:

  • RN102 has 2 x 2TB WD20EFRX (RAID 1) and I get 60 MB/S write speed over gigabit copying large video files
  • RN104 has 2 x 3TB WD30EFRX, 1 x 3TB ST3000DM001 (RAID 5) and I get 28MB/s write speed over the same network, copying the same files from the same PC (Win 10)

Both running OS 6.6.0. why the diffference in speed??

As evan2 mentioned those write speeds are fine.

Personally I would try to avoid the ST3000DM001 as it is known to have very high failure rates when used in RAID arrays.

So I bought another WD30EFRX and replaced the ST3000, putting it in a USB backup drive and guess what - the ST3000 died with the click-of-death!!! Sod's law !!
