RN104 Degraded after upgrade to 6.9.3
I've just done a firmware update to 6.9.3 on my ReadyNas 104. Before the upgrade the Staus was shown as Healthy but after the upgrade it is shown as Degraded. The Data shows 3.34Tb free of 10.90Tb wh...

Hi Spanfan,
You will still be able to use the NAS with the 3 drives in. Once you you have the new drive plug it in on bay 4 and the NAS should automatically rebuild the RAID.
Hopefully you can get a good backup of your data for protection.

Hi marc,
Three of the discs are coloured blue the fourth is grey (slot 4x1)
Hovering over the grey one shows an ATA error 41160 all the blue ones have ATA error 0
Apart from that the data is the same for all drives
Thanks
Spanfan

Hi Spanfan
That answers the degraded status on your NAS. Grey means it's dead/inactive and it needs to be replaced to get this resolved.
You may want to check the disk by connecting to an enclosure and the PC in case the NAS isreporting it wrong. You can run disk check then to check if it has errors. However, with the current status it would be best to replace the failed disk
Also, if the disk is fine I would advise contacting Support since it may have to do with the SATA connection on that bay. the unit will need to be replace if this is the case.

I've removed the Grey Disk 4 and will test it later Even without that the status is still shown as Degraded. Is that correct?

Hi Spanfan
It might be dead but if it is still runnning might as well run a test. Yes the degraded status is normal. Please note that another failure will result to losing your data, so it would be better if you rebuild the RAID by replacing the bad drive.
It would be best to do a full backup since you have access to your data.
