RN204 stuck at Resync data.

My RN204 became unrepsonsive a few days a go. the power button on it had not effect pressing and holding did not force a shutdown. I had to turn off at the mains :(

Now when booting it gets stuck at 'Resync Data 2.33%' It has been at this stage for over 24hours.

It can not be found using RAIDar and the web Admin page asks for password but then fails to load. Any Ideas what todo next not sure another power cycle is what is required.

Running OS 6.4.2

  • Not registered the RN204 yet. Recent purchase so should be with on the 90days, support on seems to last for 90days?

To stop the continous disk spinning I powered down removed a disk and powered back up. The front disaply just said DATA DGRADED.

I shutdown replaced disk then powered up. Seem fine, booted as normal but now has no data volume. Will post as new question as this is totally different to original problem.

    Hi morganp,

What was the last thing happened or changes made on your system before it started to resync and act up? Rebooting the unit may help but it may just continue the resync process.

    Kind regards,

I use BT Sync to backup a fewthings and act as personal could. The readyNAS 204 at present is the backup of my music collection. I use rsync to backup my music collection to the ReadyNAS. Although I have done this operation many times before the last time it broke BT Sync.

It could no longer find the Music folder, when trying to add it back in I kept getting permissions denied. In the end the solution to this was to ssh to RN204 and add group write permissions to the top level music folder so the bt sync deamon had write access for its .sync folder.

While the ReadyNAS was indexing the music folder again it became un responsive, Assumed it got hung up some where along the line indexing 500GB of Flac files, so turned it off and on again (at the mains).

        Hello morganp,

I think it is best to contact support center for this to get a higher tier support remote in. I checked your records and found only a ReadyNAs NV+ registered. you may need to register your RN204.
