RN2120 - Remove inactive volumes to use the disk.

After the weekend, users reported they were unable to write to the NAS drives as they did not have permission. After a restart the NAS reported there were no volumes.

Another additional error message "Remove inactive volumes to use the disk. Disk #1,2,3."

The setup has 4TB WD Red drives, RAID 5, Latest Firmware, RN2120.

Have looked through the forums and have seen other users having the same issue. Has there been any official solution to this problem? We have an offsite backup schedule, but would rather rectify than rebuild, but if it's a hardware issue or error we would like to determine.

Thanks.

    Hi rr_ob

    Welcome to the Community!

Have you tried to boot it on Read only mode? Please see How to access Boot Menu. If volume will be accessible on this mode I would suggest to transfer the data.

Have you updated the firmware before this happened? It's possible that the disks failed during the update or disks are failing already. 3 disks failure got the volume inactive and might need recovery.

Have you tried contacting NETGEAR Support on this issue? If it needs data recovery there will be cost for that. I hope you have a good backup of the data inside this NAS because if you have, it might be better to do a Factory reset.

If you have logs before this happened or if you can still access the admin page and see if you can download the logs then you can send it to us.

    Regards
