RN314 + OS X #24929185
I can connect and write files to the NAS fine from Windows machines.
I can connect and write files VERY SLOWLY to the NAS from OS X machines.
I can connect and write files to the NAS fine from a Windows VM on the OS X machine.
If I attempt to transfer the same 80GB file to the NAS (AFP, SMB, or CIFS):
- Windows ~ 109MB/s transfer speed
- MB Pro - ~ <100KB/s transfer speed
- Windows VM on the MB Pro - ~109MB/s transfer speed
The incompatibility is between OS X and the NAS. I can run the same copy on a Windows VM on the Mac and get comparable speeds to a standalone windows box. I've attempted the "sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0" setting and that made no difference.
Any ideas?
Setup below:
- What Mac OS version are you using? 10.10.2
- What are your ethernet settings set to on your Mac. DHCP/100baseT/full-duplex/1500
- What switch are you using or indicate if you are doing direct connect? HP-ProCurve 1400g
- What protocol are you using (AFP, NFS, SMB, FTP, etc)? AFP or SMB
- Are you slow on writes or reads? Writes
- What are the exact steps used to reproduce the slow file transfer. Connect to the ReadyNaS via SMB or AFP. Attempt to copy a file.
- What drives do you have? WD Red Pro 4GB x3
- Are you using XRAID or RAID 0, 1, 5? XRAID
- What NAS box do you have (NV, NV+, 600, 1000, 1100, Duo)? RN314
- In the performance tab in Frontview what are your settings set to? N/A
- What version of RAIDiator firmware are you using? OS 6.2.2
