RN422 weird message on front panel
ReadyNAS RN422 2 bay and weird front panel message Unit is just over 2 years old and so far I've been happy with performance and reliability. This morning, following usual scheduled start via Power...

If the NAS had crashed, it seems odd that I could still access the shares from my devices...or is that to be expected?
In terms of startup, yes, all seemed normal and had it not been for the front panel message I would have been none the wiser with no clues in logs and shares seemingly working normally.
I've just had another look at logs from last night into this morning and see nothing unusual, as follows:
Last night's auto shutdown

I've dumped the logs via ZIP as suggested, but really don't know where to start as there are so many files. If you could possibly suggest where to start looking or if sharing here might be of value, I'd be grateful!

It sounds like a process on the NAS crashed, but it was still partially up.
Start in kernel.log and search for the error string (ffffea0 is likely enough).
Thanks for that suggestion. As it happens I'd already considered kernel.log as a good starting point but when I first looked into it realised I didn't know what I was looking for really, so that string search made sense. I did try that but got no hits at all. If there are other files from the log dump I should home in on I'd appreciate any pointers, given there are an awful lot of them!
I did also come across this thread, which discusses very similar issues (string is not exactly the same) and seems to be related to some IPv6 glitch

That said I've checked my router IP tables (the NAS is set to use a constant DHCP address) and it says "This device either does not support or is not configured for IPv6 addressing"
System has started normally today BTW

I've disabled it on my NAS (since it is also disabled in my router). You might want to check the settings on your own NAS.

System.log and systemd-journal.log. Maybe dmesg.log.
You could also look for anything odd in the time window of the crash (instead of focusing on the memory address).

I've checked the other log suggestions and once again, no hits.
As for Plex, I don't have that installed nor active, but it was worth a looksee.On the network aspect, it looks like my router and NAS addressing match up, and in my mind I'm thinking I've not made changes and this hasn't been a problem before. I think for now I'll leave things be, thinking it may have been a one off glitch. Quite odd though.
