If I use the "Frontview" even without disks inserted should I get the status of the NAS?
You can't, since the system boots from the disks.
Are you seeing anything on the LCD screen? Did you try doing a factory install from the front panel? ( http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNDU2000/ReadyNAS_Ultra_UltraPlus_NVX_Pro_HW_en_8July11.pdf )
Normally you want to insert blank (unformatted) disks, so it might be worth deleting the existing partitions with windows disk manager.

Hello,

Got after som time the error message: No disks detected
I used one 320Gb disk, first time formatted in ext4 the the same disk NTFS formatted
Still the same error mess.

What disks are you using?

The NAS must format it's own drives, so don't waste any more time trying that. It also will format them in OS4.2.x without warning, so don't use a drive that has anything on it you care about. You appear to have a hardware problem -- either the drive or the NAS. Did you try the other slots or another drive?

Yes I used another disk and slot, disk in spinning and all voltages are checkt and correct
