RND V1 Upgrading from 2x1TB to 2x2TB No X-Raid Option
Heard something about 4k-hdd-problems. (too late)
Just bought 2 x WDC20EARX (according Compatibility list) and synched one of them in Slot. When replacing second HDD in Slot 1 Capacity did not go up to 2TB. So I formatted an old 1TB of the X-Raid before and backed up the data on that disc and made a factory reset. When logging into the frontview, I saw it was Raid1 already and I couldn´t change anything. No options to do so. When I made the factory reset with only one disc and adding the second afterwards, I only had the option to do Raid0.
What am I doing wrong??
Firmware 4.1.10
There is no Option for X-raid. Why?
Please help.... all data is on only one drive at the moment.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredBecause you chose Flex-RAID last time it chose that by default this time.
If you do another factory reset (wipes all data, settings, everything), discover the NAS using RAIDar (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20684/), click Setup and choose X-RAID and confirm your choice you can change to using X-RAID. - peebeeAspirantBut it does not use Flex-Raid and during setup after first factory reset with both 2TB discs inserted I wasn´t asked which Raid I want to use.
I want Flexraid, but it did Raid1 without my permission.
I did the second reste with only one disc and afetr inserting I could only make a raid0. That is strange. Isn´t it?
I want to use X-Raid, which is Flex Raid!?
It doesn´t let me even after factory Reset. (30 seconds pushing reset when booting) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhen you initiate a factory reset there is 10 minutes in which you can open RAIDar, discover the NAS, click setup and choose the RAID mode and confirm your choice. If you don't make the choice in this time the choice is made for you. With Flex-RAID the default with one disk inserted is RAID-0 and the default with two disks inserted is RAID-1, though you can delete the default Flex-RAID volume created and create different Flex-RAID volume(s)

Okay, that might be the issue. I wasn´t waiting for the NAS to be ready and did the setup later.mdgm wrote: With Flex-RAID the default with one disk inserted is RAID-0 and the default with two disks inserted is RAID-1, though you can delete the default Flex-RAID volume created and create different Flex-RAID volume(s)
Does that mean, I must delet the disks both in Volumes setup of the frontview and then I can create a new Raid? Instead of the chosen Raid0 now? Then I can chose X-Raid?
Or in my case do I have to make the factory reset again? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTo change to X-RAID you would need to do another factory reset.
- peebeeAspirantThank you so much in advance!
I hope it works. And I will let you know, if it did. - peebeeAspirantIt did work very fine. I really wasn´t aware of that 10 minute timeframe. Now I have the Netgear X-Raid (expandeable Raid) again and it looks almost like before, but with 2 TB capacity instead :-) Just like it should work.
I thank you very much mdgm for spending your time on a sunday to help me out.
All my photos are save again in about 5 minutes. I could never forgive myself, if all babyphotos of my kids would disappear because of a stupid backup mistake.
I think I should go for a second NAS. Just to make sure, I can handle such a situation in the future again.
