Yes. I think it is XRAID. I assume it is like a traditional RAID1 Mirror but Netgear's own proprietary one.
Do I need to initiate a scan, on R-Linux, on the partition?
I will try the other drive tomorrow.

The 2nd drive is behaving in a simar way. So I have reinstalled the 1st drive back into the USB HDD caddy and have initiated a 'detailed' scan on the largest partition.
Fingers crossed it will find a file system with files which i can restore.

Have you checked the disk health using SeaTools?

Sorry. I forgot to update this thread. Been extremely busy and losing hope in recovering this data.
I ran the scan function on R-Linux for over a day and it didn't find any data. I try the quick option to see if its any better.
I also tried SeaTools but ithe tool doesn't start up properly. It hangs on scanning for USB Devices. I wonder if it fails/hangs cause there is an issue with the HDD.
