RNDU2000 ReadyNas Broken - Need advice

Hi.  My ReadyNAS RNDU2000 has finally given up.  Failed power supply I think.

Would be grateful for advice as to which new product I can buy that will fit the disks and allow me to migrate the data.

Thank you.

  • The external power supply is easily replaced.  Lots of compatible ones are available on Amazon or eBay.  If it's the internal voltage conversion, then it's non-repairable.

By "migrate the data", do you mean read it from your NAS drives, or copy from a backup?

Had you upgraded the NAS to OS6, or is it still on 4.2.x?  If it's 4.2.x, you can move the drives to any legacy machine that runs the same software.  If it is on OS6, you can move them to a legacy machine also converted or a native OS6 unit.  There is also a method to recover your data from OS4.2.x using an OS6 unit.

With new Netgear NAS currently unavailable, you would be looking at a used unit or one from another manufacturer.  I know of none by other companies that can recover data from your volume.  But there are tools you can run on a PC to do that.
