RNDU4000 - OS Reinstall, fix frontview and various other problems

Okay ... Tried what I beleive is everything, found the (afaik) original .deb files from "/var/cache/apt/archives/" and executed "apt-get -i *.deb" in that directory, manually "apt-get install"'ed the oldest versions, took a chance, rebooted the nas - and presto - now everything works ...
So ... note to self .. dont "apt-get upgrade" blindlessly :o)
If you for some reason deleted the files from "/var/cache/apt/archives/" then "Factory Default" might be the only solution ...

Normally an OS re-install re-installs the firmware from the system’s internal flash to its disks. The OS reinstall boot mode can be useful when the system crashes and corrupts some configuration files. OS reinstall boot mode also resets some settings on your system, such as Internet protocol settings and the administrator password, to defaults.
Do you still have access to the data via CIFS? Given the recent incidents, it might be a good idea if you actually back-up your data to a different location.
Lets wait for others in the community to give us some steps as well.
