RNDU6000 not booting with 3 original drives but boots fine with separate drive
This machine has been flawless for the past 4 or 5 years but recently it turned itself off and when powered on the screen reads "ReadyNAS" in blue and does nothing further.
I've read the forums and have successfully booted the machine with a different drive and updated the firmware. So I can confirm the HW is fine, although it still could be something wrong with the PSU not being able to provide adequate power to the 3 x 3TB drives even though it's rated to power 6 drives.
I'm curious if anyone could tell me how I can find out what the machine is doing during this "ReadyNAS" phase. The OS is fine so I assume it's failing on some sort of disk check. If I could access some log files I'm sure that would clear things up. I've attempted to access the bootmenu with these problems drives in and it never activates, which I find really weird. I'm sure I could access it with the successful drive, but I don't see what that would get me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's hanging on trying to get the SMART stats from the SeaGate ST3000DM001 disk. Considering that disk model has very high failure rates it's very likely the problem is that that disk is bad. You're much better off using the WD RED disk model (your other two disks are WD RED disks).
