Robocopy between 2 ReadyNAS516's
So we started out with an old crappy SAS shared drive. We got our first ReadyNAS 516 and easily used robocopy to copy everything from the SAS to the ReadyNAS. Then we got our second readyNAS 516 to use as a backup. We used rsync for the first full backup but we didn't really like the way rsync wroked. So we decided to run our robocopy script between the two devices. Well we got a long log of access denied from the source ReadyNAS. Its looking like robocopy can copy to the readynas but not from the readynas. Its really weird. Has anyone else experienced this?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt sounds like the windows pc you are using doesn't have permission to access the files. Are you using NAS admin credentials to access two NAS?
I use robocopy a lot to copy from the NAS to a PC, and sometimes vice versa. Both directions work reliably for me. - ajaleleAspirantYes I am logged in with domain adim credentials when I try it.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYes, but is that also the admin credentials on the two NAS?
- ajaleleAspirantNo. Maybe this is a stupid question but how would I run the program from my pc with NAS admin creds?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOne way is to map the two NAS volumes to drive letters on the PC - using the NAS admin credentials when you map the drives.
It can also be done with net use - http://klyavlin.wordpress.com/2012/09/1 ... epassword/
If the PC is always allowed full access, you can also enter the admin credentials for the two NAS into the Windows credentials manager, and they should be used automatically.
