rsync Backup stops after 266GB

I am running RN -> RN backups using rsync. Since 6.9.3 this no longer works for large files. I can reproduce a stalling backup for large files. About an hour ago I started a backup for a folder with a file of 274GB. It starts with the expected performance by saturating the 1GB link but stops transferring data after transferring 266GB. The UI still indicates a transfer speed of 80MB/s. The network throughput on the System->Performance tab shows only a few kB/s of data transfer. The rsync process can still be found but top shows a cpu load of 0%.

What can be wrong here?

    Hi Campus,

Are both NAS devices connected on the same network connection? You may also provide to us the logs. Please check this link for the procedure on how you can send it.

Sorry for not getting back earlier. I think I found a few more details. It seems that this problem appears if rsync thinks it needs to retransmit/check already existing files. I had one 260GB file on the destination machine where the original file on the source ReadyNAS had 274GB and was also partially changed. Because rsync runs without --inplace it has to copy the entire file again to some temp file in the same folder. This goes pretty fast for appr. 265GB at the expected max network speed (~100MB/s) but then drops to 10kB/s for the remaining data. Funny detail is that this is for data thats definitely not existing on the destination machine so rsync has nothing left to check. The cpu load is at 0% and also no wait time for disks. The entire destination machine idles in this state. I could workaround this issue by simply deleting the entire file on the destination ReadyNAS before starting the backup again.

I never noticed this with any of the previous releases, before 6.9.3.
