Thanks for that. What I had discovered was that certain .mp3 files from a specific poster on a Usenet group (devoted to opera broadcsats) were causing the scans to hang or abort. These files were not "corrupt" in that they would play perfectly, but there was something about the tagging that was causing the problem. In every case, if I removed all the tags and retagged the files, the scan would scan them with no problem.
I posted a couple of these files and Andy, who is or was head of SBS development I think, looked at them and said he didn't see anything particularly wrong with them.
The version of SBS I am running is v7.6.2~33283. When it finds a file it can't handle, it will throw an error message saying that the scan terminated abnormally instead of just hanging indefinitely. But it will NOT log the name of the file it had problems with. If there is a later version that does that, I'd like to know. Otherwise
I will stay with this version, because now that SBS has become a "media server" I don't expect it to focus on music files anymore, and I have already spent long hours trying to get it to work. I don't want to spend any more time with a program that's for video too. (I can't see why this was done, by the way. Personally I don't watch video on my Sqeezebox Touch.)
