-you can certainly set up a fixed address on the ReadyNAS. One way is to configure a static address on the NAS; most routers also let you reserve an address in the router. This second way is better if your router does it.
-You should also be able to connect to your NAS by name. I don't have a Mac though, so I am not experienced with configuring Time Machine.
