Several Backup Questions
I have searched the community boards for some help but haven't found what I need. I apologize in advance if this is a duplicatre. I have a RN526X as my main server and a RN314 which is set up on...

In answer to your question 1 just set the source as volume: data
This works for me

Thanks for the quick response.
I tried this originally but couldn't get it to work. I set the Source to data with the Patrh field empty. I enter the IP address of the 314 and also leave the Path blank. (anything I put in the Path causes the connection to fail). With leaving the Path blank, I Test the connection and I get a confirmation that the connection to the 314 is successful.
When I try to run the backup it goes from Startin to In Queue to Failed. The error message says:
Error backup job DataBackup: connection cannot be established. Check the connection and authentication, if required.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

After a little more experimenting I may have gotten this to work. It appears the backup can't be pointed to the root of the target server (the 314). I created a new Share on the 314 called Backup and pointed the Data volume backup to it. That seems to be running and is recreating the 526X shares inside the Backup Share on the 314. Is this the same as your set-up or do you know a way to backup the data volume on the souce to the root of the target?
It is still running but if this completes it eliminates the need to have multiple backup jobs created and will automatically include any new shares that may be created in the future.
This will also resolve my Question 3 since this is the only backup job needed.
I'm not yet sure if this will resolve #2 (backing up the Home share) but it has created the Share on the 314 but not yet copied any data into it.
I still need an answer for 4 and 5.

David

Sorry I forgot you need to create a share on the target, my setup is a backup from NAS Pro 4 to an attached USB Drive (so I was able to name the root target share "data", which you cannot on another NAS), my job does indeed include the home folders using Netgear minimal default settings.
I run this job using Rsync every eight hours, so it is incremental (deleting files on the target that have been deleted on the source, thus creating a mirror copy) and takes relatively minimal time to complete 10 mins to 90 Mins.....dependant on data changes
