SHOULD I PULL THE POWER LEAD OUT ON MY NAS?
Before you ask, I have a full suite of screen captures (and a video) answering all the usual "you haven't told me what firmware version you are using, what is the model number and so on and so on". I...

NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED THANKYOU.
On instruction from level 2 Nergear support for the NV104 ("Study-nas") I took the power lead out and replaced it when (ironically!!!!) that NAS would not shutdown. This fixed that problem.
Therefore I took a risk with NAS inquestion (Nv+V2 / NAS-Backup) and took the power lead out. When I reinserted it the Nv+V2 started quickly and I have now completled a successfull backup to it as usual.
I appreciate the willingness of everyone to offer their suggestions.
One other comment is this latest netgear support person everturned previous NG advice. I was now advised to use the on off button on the computer to turn the NAS's off and not the physical button on the front of the NAS case (which apparently has its own little driver which can fail).

The model and firmware version would be helpful/
By stuck in startup, what are you seeing in RAIDar (or on the LCD screen on the front if your NAS has one) to indicate this (other than not being able to click on setup)? Is it saying booting... or "retry startup" or something else?

Here are all my screen 7 captures (but I can't attach the video).
The secreen capture will obviously reveal it is the NV+v2
You will see the Firmware version is innacessible (unless someone can tell me how).

Do you have a backup?
If you can't boot the NAS normally you possibly could try booting the system skipping the filesystem check and if it will then boot sending your logs in (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)- David20PT1Jan 11, 2016Aspirant
