Slow read / write performance

Hi

I am getting slow read / write perfomance when copying files to and from my ReadyNas Duo, whether it's from my Vista Laptop or my Android Phone. It is even slow when backing up folders between shares on the NAS. A backup of 221 MB takes over 5 minutes. This is when called using the Backup function in the admin console.

When copying files to / from my NAS I get 312KB/s whether it's using wired or wireless.

I've tried changing the MTU etc but no improvement.

Is there anything I can do to improve perfomance.

My disks are Seagate ST31000528AS 931 GB. One came with the unit, the other was a free disk from Netgear.

I look forward to hearing fom you.

This is over a wireless connection.

I suggest that you start troubleshooting with a direct wired connection (connecting the NAS directly to your vista laptop via ethernet). After you get any issues there sorted out, you can start looking at the network itself.

sphardy has a nice guide on how to do that here: http://sphardy.com/web/directconnect
