speed with small files
before i bought my 312 i had a desktop pc with sme server(cent os5)
after changing to 312 a software who stores theire data on a netshare is really slower then before. so i make some tests (the old server stands nearby the readynas and is in the same switch plugged then the 312):
the speed is what windows says. the iometer link in the forum is dead. i found something but the "how to" is for the older os 4.x. the "read before" (speedup) link is also dead.
readynas:
1 big file (1 tb) = 120 mb/s
small files 60 mb / 10.000 files = 250 kb/s
old linux nas with centOS5 (sme server):
1 big file (1 tb) = 70 mb/s
small files 60 mb / 10.000 files = 1,2 mb/s
so the transfer of big files is much faster, but the transfer of small ones is a lot slower. why?
