SSH connection closed (ReadyNAS 104, 6.5.0)
I am using a RN312 (main device) and a RN104 (backup device).
Both have been updated from 6.4.2 to 6.5.0.
Now I can no longer ssh or sftp into the RN104.
sftp from MacBook using Cyberduck:
ssh from RN312 to RN104:
admin@ReadyNAS312:~$ ssh admin@readynas104 admin@readynas104's password: Welcome to ReadyNASOS 6.5.0 Last login: Mon Jun 6 19:34:17 2016 from readynas312.fritz.box Connection to readynas104 closed. admin@ReadyNAS312:~$
Also, ReadyNAS Replicate no longer works from RN314 to RN104.
It does work the other way.
And, very strange: from a Windows 10 PC, I can use WinSCP and PuTTY with both RN314 und RN104.
Both devices, Mac and PC are on the same LAN.
Perhaps something has gone wrong during updating the RN104.
What can be done other than factory resetting the RN104?
Best regards, _frantic_
Normally you'd be using ssh root@readynas104 not admin. Did you try root?

Oops, you are right!
I was accidentally using admin instead of root, since I recently migrated from PC to Mac.
But admin has no shell on a RN104. (has this been changed for RN 312?)
/etc/passwd ReadyNAS312:
admin:x:98:98::/home/admin:/bin/bash
/etc/passwd ReadyNAS104:
admin:x:98:98::/home/admin:/bin/false
I still have no luck with Replicate between my RN 312 and the RN 104.
It does work in the opposite direction.
(I have already asked for help here, but got no answer.)

I have no advice on replicate, hopefully someone else will chime in. I think sftp will work with root on the RN104. There is a setting to allow shell access on a user by user basis, so perhaps check that setting for admin on the RN104. It is not set by default.
