If you won't share the folder on the PC, then you need to do the backup from the PC. Though that might not be enough for you, since in that scenario the destination folder will need to be shared. You can lock down the security to limit the access, and you can also hide the shared folder name, but it remains shared.
One option is to use a PC backup program that encrypts the data - then the source folder is not shared, the destination is shared but the data is encrypted.
