Stream HD and 4K video from RN424 to Android devices
Greetings. In the past, I have used a Minix box to stream via SMB shares from my RN424 and that usually works fine for 4K and HD videos. However I now have a Note 20 Ultra android phone and a S7 Plu...

Enabling DLNA for the media share(s) would work. You would need to put a DLNA client app on the Android Devices - there are several available in the google playstore. This will work on your local network, but not when you are away from home. You wouldn't be able to delete media using the DLNA client.
Plex is another option - if you want to try that, then get it directly from plex.tv/downloads. Don't use the version advertised in "available apps" as it is out of date. You'd then install the plex client on the Android devices.
Plex is likely overkill if all you want to do is play a few videos when you are home, but if you also want to play music from a music library, or play other media it is worth a look. Also, it would let you watch the videos when you aren't at home.

Thanks. I will try the DNLA option and checkout a few android clients. I have not really looked into any of those before. If you know a good one let me know.
I believe I read that I can only turnnon DNLA on shares that need it correct? And it in no way alters the files or their Metadata etc?
I am familiar with Plex but as you said may be overkill. But seems like once I start playing with this stuff I sometimes end up there! đ
