Streaming media from ReadyNAS Duo to Apple TV 2 (Seas0nPass)

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum after just receiving my Netgear ReadyNAS Duo. I bought it with the intention of installing Plex, only to realise that this is not possible on the Duo.

I currently have Plex installed on my Macbook Pro, but I've grown frustrated at always having to have the laptop open. What I'd really like to do is stream my media directly from the NAS to the Apple TV (which has been jailbroken with Seas0nPass).

Can anyone suggest the best method to remove my laptop from the streaming equasion???

I'd really appreciate an easy(ish) solution. I'm a nerd, but still very cool.

Well the best solution would be to get a ReadyNAS Pro 6 and install Plex Media Server on that.
  • That's not going to happen. I've already stretched my budget buying the Duo.

Well if you can install a DLNA client on the Apple TV then you could try using ReadyDLNA on the Duo to stream to the Apple TV.

Another option would be to use a client that connects to samba network shares.
  • On the Apple TV.

I've since sold the ReadyNAS duo on eBay. Overall, I found it to be unsuitable for my needs. I love Plex found that I just couldn't live without it.
