Having stuttering problems with my setup, I have rn104 with blu-ray iso files, router is linksys wrt1900ac and media player is kdlinks a300 with gigabit port. Running all cat6 cabling. trying to narrow down whats causing media player to stutter.

Also have router tied to a switch se4008 linksys

  • correct, the mtu is 1444 and i added 28 to get to 1472.
how do i ping media player?

    edit: ping 192.168.1.53 -f -l 1472
this is the fastest without packet loss, which is 1500 mtu on media player, i think :)

Ok. So there's no clear reason why the media player works better with the MTU set to 1472.

On the other hand, you do need 1472 anyway to reach the internet without fragmentation. So its reasonable to set the MTUs to 1472 on your various devices.
  • all my devices work with 1500 except for xfinity service, they have modem locked to point where i cant access admin page even tho i own the modem not rent. Thanks tho
