stuttering blu-ray
Having stuttering problems with my setup, I have rn104 with blu-ray iso files, router is linksys wrt1900ac and media player is kdlinks a300 with gigabit port. Running all cat6 cabling. trying to narrow down whats causing media player to stutter.
Also have router tied to a switch se4008 linksys

- a week to transfer some data and still not finished
windows reports 12MB/s, from disk to disk on the nas, is that correct?
seems pretty slow to me, like usb 1.0 slow - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThis is with the ST8000AS0002 drive? If so, it could well be correct.
With normal drives, the RN104 should write at ~50 MB/s.
But the archival drive is very slow on sustained writes. - I think i fixed my problem, i reduced mtu on router and nas to 1472 and now everything is buttery smooth. I play iso from usb thumb drive and it played flawless so that really pointed me towards my network which was odd since i have good hardware. Ive been playing different content trying to make it stutter, so far so good.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserGood news.
Do you have a vlan set up? - no vlan, do i need one?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserNo, you don't. I was just thinking about reasons why the lower mtu would help. If VLANS were enabled, then the ethernet header grows by 4 bytes.
- the more i search, it seems like a common problem

Well, its often suggested. However, with a gigabit network an MTU =1500 should work.pdasterly wrote: the more i search, it seems like a common problem
But since it is all working nicely, perhaps leave well enough alone. - i get 100% loss when i ping google at 1500
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf ping google.com -f -l 1472 works, then the MTU on that path is 1500 (you need to add 28 to the ping payload size to include headers).
Maybe try pinging the media player using the same command, and confirm its MTU.
