Swapping disk sets between units nv+ to nv+
My brother and I got the same NV+.
His power unit broke down I guess. Totally not responsive anymore.
Time for a new one.
I need to recover his data on his 4 disks.
I assume I can use my NV+ and put his disks in?
Copy his data and put my 4 disk back in without risk of dataloss of the data on my disks?
Asking just to be sure.
Both nv+ are on the same firmware version.
The OS (settings ect) of the NAS is on the drives right?
So if I swap I make my nv+ his nv+?
And I can revert that after..
Yes. It will work as you expected.
Keeping drives in same order is not required, but it is always nice to know order in case something expected happens.
All settings are stored on hard drives, we don't store any user data on boot device.

Note that if he was running a different firmware version from you, then your system will install the firmware from the flash onto his disks. That could either be an upgrade or a downgrade.
Also, is it good to confirm that you both have NV+ v1 (or NV+ v2) - not one of each.
We bought them together, both same hardware.
Both same firmware, im sure since I updated it on his nas after i updated mine.
I marked his disks, not sure about the order though. Good to know that shouldnt be a problem either.
Nice, thx for the answers.
Worked like a charm, no problems at all.
thx!
