"There is no media available for playback" error when I access new folders on my RN104 using my WDTV
History: I bought a WDTV about a year back so I could copy all my DVDs onto my RN104 and then put the DVDs in the loft. Last time I gott it working (after many hours!) but the movie playback was ver...

Not to worry, I worked out what the probelem was:
I had checked "Specify Permission when a new file/folder is created. Otherwise inherit permission from parent" in "Default" of the "File Access" settings on the NAS.
I unchecked that box and everything started to work again.

Did you try going into the share settings, choosing the file access tab, and then "reset"?
Also, on the WDTV - are you accessing the content as a "media server" or as a "network share"?

Hi,
I tried the reset function before but that made no difference - the NAS actually reccomended it as a possible fix for problems accessing folders, I was very hopeful!
I am not sure how the WDTV is configured, where abouts do I find that out on the WDTV?
In "Network share server settigs" Windows Share Server is set to ON if that helps?
Thanks for your help, I am sure it's something very simple but I just cant find it!
I tried to compare all the security features on the folders on my laptop but they all appear to match.
..
I just found the "Select Content Source" Which has "Media Server" and "Network Share" listed as options, problem is that it doesn't tell me what it's currently set to!
If one is preferred then I don't mind switching it, all I want to do on the WDTV is access DVDs from the NAS so I don't mind changing anything about. I have an Amazon Fire box for Netflix, Prime and everything else.
