The Netatalk 2.2 Update is required to support Time Machine backups from Mac OS X Lion. - albertcruzesAspirantTime Machine backup is currently broken on OS X LionI would like to keep this one also high on the priority list ! I want to switch over to OS X Lion as soon as it becomes available but of course, only if Time Machine etc keeps working !
- kcrossleyAspirantAgreed. Me too.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThere will likely need to be a public beta firmware that adds Netatalk 2.2 (this update includes AFP 3.3 and a large number of other things as well) before a production firmware with it included is released. I would suggest keeping an eye on the Mac OS X forum as well as the Public RAIDiator Beta forum.
Edit: yoh-dah has posted an ETA for x86 on Twitter!: http://twitter.com/#!/yohdah/status/93576735983009792yoh-dah wrote:
@stannenb We'll have a release for x86 Wed. Sparc release will follow at a later date as we're working out some issues there. - forddonaldAspirantI'm seeing the same. Did Lion come as some sort of surprise to Netgear?

That's not a surprise.forddonald wrote:

No. They'll likely do a little testing this morning to ensure the production Lion release works with x86 ReadyNAS (e.g. NVX, Ultra, Pro) and then release a firmware update adding compatibility. NetGear does not support beta OSes so there was no reason to push out an update adding Lion compatibility before now.
NetGear supports the project that provides AFP and Time Machine support on Linux devices (e.g. the ReadyNAS). See http://www.netafp.com/status-of-netatalk-and-afp-support-by-nas-vendor-322/ - matgrAspirantLion installed from App Store, Update to 4.18 on NVX and Time Machine is back in business :D
- RupertGilesApprenticeI upgraded to Lion, only to discover that Time Machine will no longer backup to my ReadyNAS Duo. I tried building a new sparsebundle and copying it over to a fresh CIFS share, but Time Machine still complains that "The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features."
Does this mean that backup to an CIFS share will no longer work either? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI don't think Time Machine ever backed up to an CIFS share. For obvious reasons Apple uses AFP (Apple Filing Protocol) for Time Machine backups over the network.
It's been well known for a long time that a firmware update will be required to add Mac OS X Lion Support. - rkohnAspirantSo, I updated to Lion and I updated ReadyNAS 2100 to latest firmware, but I still get the "The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features." Error. I am not using the built-in Timemachine option as I have about 30 computers that back up to this device that would use up more than the set 2tb limit. So instead they connect as users with a set size limit with apple using "Unsupported Time Machine Disks". Not sure if any of this effects the anything, but more information is better than less.
Anyone have any ideas on a fix? From what I can find the firmware fix has worked for everyone else, but seems like I am having no luck.
