Can you measure the speed using a wired ethernet client?

What do you mean? When wired the speed is around 100 MB/s for big files.

If you are getting 100 MB/sec from the NAS, then your issue is really with WiFi. You could repost in the home networking forum. But I think that ~200 mbits per second (27 MB/s) is about right for the D6200. It's consistent with some D6200 router reviews I've seen.

Hi Luca,
Your router can do 867 Mbit/s theoretically. That will never translate to real life usage. 867 Mbit/s you might be able to reach on the wifi, if you are in outer space - in a vacuum with zero signal loss.
In the real world you will always loose some signal to the environment. The speeds you see on the wifi is just fine for a router like the R6200. No problem there.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I just thought that you should achieve at least something around 40 or 50 MB/s with my setup, also considering that the adapter is pretty close to the router, I cannot imagine how much it would degrade if it were on the oppise side of the flat!
What router would you need in order to be reasonably sure to achieve such speeds?

Hi Luca,
50MB/s (400Mbit/s) is pretty fast on wifi! It is not so easy to get :)
However, Netgear's Nighthawk series of routers can probably do it but remember you probably also need a wireless adapter that is better/faster than the one you have now.
To be honest, these routers will cost you quite a bit of money. Is it really worth it? The speeds you are getting now are very decent.
In the future, I suggest that you look up reviews online before you buy, so that you can see what real-life wifi speeds to expect.
Good luck!
