Ultra 4 messed up after apt-get dist-upgrade

I have backed up all the important data on the Ultra 4 to an old NV+, and the most important data to additionally to an external USB drive... Still I have some data on the Ultra that is not really important, however I would like to avoid to loose it.
Can i use disk striping on the NV+, meaning having 4 disks 2 GB each in it with a total capacity of 8 GB ? Reason I'm asking this is I have roughly 7.5 GB in use on the Ultra 4 in total and would like to do a full backup of it to the NV+... It seems i have no way to configure what RAID is used on the NV+, correct ? 2 GB disks for that old system is still the limit ?
