Unable to login or restore password, Netgear readynas204

I am unable to access my RN204 as it no longer accepts my password for some reason. The password recover functionality isn't accepting the answer I gave it, nor the standard response/password. I have tried searching for a solution in the other community posts, but they refer to a reset function in the password recovery page, which isn't there on mine. So how do i regain access to my RN204's menu system without formatting and thereby loosing all my data?

    Hi Leicon,

    Welcome to the Community!

You can do an OS re-install on the NAS. This will reset some settings on it, such as Internet protocol settings and administrator password, to defaults without losing your data. Here is the link on how to access the boot menu and do the OS re-install.

The default admin credential of your NAS is admin for the username and password for password.

    Regards,

        Hi there,

I have been unable to log into the forums since i received the first reply but sadly it did not help. i tried following the reset option with powering the 204 down, holding in the reset button on the back while turning the 204 on again but there is no boot options when it starts saying boot in the display if i release the reset button and start clicking it as the guide said.
