Unable to set to Internet time?
I wonder if someone can tell me how to fix a little problem I'm having with my ReadyNAS314? I noticed today that it's time was about 50 minutes slow, so checked and it was set to sync with the In...

Hi daKlone,
Can you confirm if your router (network) is synchronized properly with your local time and is on the right timezone? Maybe adding 8.8.8.8 as DNS in the active NIC of your ReadyNAS would help.
Kind regards,

I just tried changing the time server on my RN102, and that did work. I'm running 6.5.1 firmware.
What firmware are you running?
First I'd confirm that the NAS can reach the internet (particularly if you use a static IP address).
Servers that work include 0.pool.ntp.org (good if you in North America).
Netgear servers include time-a.netgear.com, time-c.netgear.com, time-d.netgear.com,time-e.netgear.com, time-f.netgear.com, time-g.netgear.com and time-h.netgear.com. Some resolve to the same ip address.
Personally I use 0.pool.ntp.org for the first server, and one of the Netgear servers for the second.

Hi StephenB,
Thank you for your reply. I've tried all the settings you suggested, but no luck. Same as before, I check the box and enter the time servers but when I look again the box is unchecked and the addresses are gone.
I do wonder if the NAS can see the Internet, because I'm on v6.2 but when I hit "check for updates" on the "System" "Settings" tab all I get is the busy spinner for a moment, then it dissapears with no message.
But then I have Transmission v2.92 installed and that works fine, so there must be a connection to the Internet, mustn't there?
Confused? I am! :(

Hi BrianL,
Excellent, that got it! :)
I didn't have anything in the DNS settings at all, but once I'd added my usual server addresses the clock settings "stuck" and I was prompted to do a firmware upgrade.
Thanks for sorting this for me.

dK
