Upgrading all drives in ReadyNAS 314

    All you need to do is

    1. power down
    2. remove the existing disks
    3. insert the new (blank) disks
    4. power up.

     

    The system will do a fresh factory install onto the new drives automatically.  No need to do a factory reset.

    No, there's no need for either step in this case.  It's best not to do either, as that gives you the option of reinserting those disks (powered down) if you need to extract anything that's on the NAS now.

    The OS resides on the disks.  There is an installation image in the NAS flash memory - when you power up (as described above), the system will format the new disks and install the OS.
