Use ReadyNAS instead of Dropbox to share files?
Hi folks, I hope I can find some assistance here. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to networks etc, although I do know how to port forward should I need to. I have tried port forwarding on my modem to solve this issue, to no avail. Anyways ..
I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 6 using RAIDiator OS 4.2.27.
I produce video files for clients. I am tired of uploading to Dropbox and sending clients download links. I want to simply send my clients download links to files on my NAS. I have been told this is possible, I just cannot figure out how to do it!
My setup is as follows.
Running Windows 7 and I have a separate modem and router.
Modem: Netgear CGD24N (192.168.0.1)
Wifi Router: ASUS RT-AC68U (shows as 192.168.0.7 on modem LAN IP)
My ReadyNAS is connected via cable to both the Modem (IPv4 address: 2: 192.168.0.2) and Router (IPv4 address: 1: 192.168.1.116).
I have created a share on my ReadyNAS. Default access is Read-only, Allow guest access, WebDAV Enabled.
Can anyone forward me relevant advice or link to any online tutorials?
I can only find this (http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24784/~/configure-webdav-access-to-readynas-os-6.x-from-windows-xp) which I think provides a solution to do what I want to do, however I use a different ReadyNAS OS and Windows 7.
Like I said, I just want to be able to provide links to my clients so they can download their files directly from my NAS instead of Dropbox.
Is this possible?
thanks ...

Working my way through this at the moment.

- dave72AspirantThat's a great point. Thank you.
