What operating system is used on the readynas RN10200?
I need to know what the OS of the system is, and how I can access it! I'm thinking that it is probably Linux, and am prepared to install that on a laptop so that I might access the guts of the readyn...

As for the OS, ReadyNAS OS 6 it is based on Debian Wheezy. Yes we are using Linux.
You can use PuTTY (free SSH/telnet client) on Windows or the Terminal on Mac/Linux to SSH in to the ReadyNAS. SSH is a service that you can enable under System > Settings > Services. As Ixa mentioned you can do a lot of damage if you don't know what you are doing so you should think carefully whether you really want to use this.
There is a ReadyNAS OS 6 VM available that you can experiment on: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=70699
Note that the VM is x86_64 whereas your 102 is ARM so some things will be different, but if you break things doing something in a VM then you will know not to do it on your 102.

Are you planning to connect the NAS to a PC and access it using a linux program?
As far as I know, it can be accessed through SSH and TelNet. What are you planning to do once you log in on the system?
