Likely triggered the spam filter. You can PM me (using the envelope link in the upper right of the forum page) if this happens again, as I can release spam. Or wait for a mod to get to it.
Anyway, there are no changes to the health - you are still seeing the one command timeout on each drive. I don't find that concerning, as it has not increased during the resync.

does scrub and defrag have any sense to be scheduled? how much in a week?

Personally I schedule one maintenance function per month (cycling through all 4 three times per year).
Though the value of defrag is very debatable. It can reduce free space, especially if you have snapshots enabled. So although I do run it every four months, I neither recommend it nor recommend against it.
- carlockiJan 07, 2022LuminarySo, you also do, the defrags?
- StephenBJan 08, 2022Guru - Experienced User
Yes, once every four months (as part of the schedule). They don't do any harm on my system, but I can't really say they do any good either.
There are some situations where defrag is a bad idea - for instance, if you have a live database in a share with snapshots.

Scrub is going on...
- carlockiJan 10, 2022Luminary
everythig is done
i scheduled
2 times a month a scrubs
2 times a month a defrag
2 times a year a balance
and 1 times a month a test
i dedicated a part of the archive to recent files where I make snapshot
the rest of the archives is stopped and backuped
- carlockiJan 10, 2022Luminary
reduce to 2 test a year
and 4 scrubs a year
the system is really under controll
with sequoia trees I am also veryfing files, what i still need, copied files, old shared stuff and removing them.
for me the system is perfect

solved completely everything
now i bought a new iron wolf to sobstitute disk volume 2
in this way i will have 2 old barracuda and 2 newest iron wolf
the barracuda are outside for 2 backup devices with 2 different part of the archives.

Do a hot swap. That is, remove the old disk and insert the new one with the system running. Be careful that you replace the correct disk. If you do accidently replace the wrong one, you need to wait for the resync to complete before trying to fix it.
The array has no RAID protection during this process, so Netgear does recommend making sure your backup is up to date before manipulating disks. FWIW, I agree with their advice.

there is no correct disk, I am doing this because I want to renew all deives trough years. now i am 1 on 4.
I am using old disk as a backup

The "correct" disk is just the disk you intend to replace.
For instance, if later on you intend to replace disk 2, but accidentally pull disk 1 by mistake, you need to be careful on how to recover from that mistake. You can't just immediately reinsert the original disk 1.

Are you saying that you will put it in a USB adapter/dock? If not, can you explain?

Barracuda are green IRon wolf have red label

Exactly, is not a proper behaviour?

Yes, it is. Some people try to do something else, which doesn't work.
carlocki wrote:

Yeah, but you can't see the label until after you pull the drive.
I think we can move on. I brought this up only because there are folks who've posted here after accidentally pulling the wrong drive. Most didn't handle that situation (often they just immediately replaced the drive, and then pulled the one they intended). If you do that, you generally lost your data volume.

ok, except volume 4 that is IRON WOLF the other three are barracuda, If I am correct in X-raid I can move one of the 3's and replace it with a second new formated Iron Wolf right? in the hot mode you define before
please confirm this. I will be very worry about removing a barracuda and not the only iron wolf newer

Yes, you can hot-swap the barracudas one at a time. Just wait for the resync to completly finish before hot-swappng the next.
As I mentioned before, best practice is to make sure you have an up-to-date backup before doing the hot-swaps.

do i have to format the disk before swapping it?
