Windows 11 cannot connect to ReadyNAS NV+

The ReadyNAS NV+ seems booth up fine, its mac address is on the display. When I open the admin page, I got the connection timed out error, and unable to connect to any of my network drives. What could be the problem and how to fix it? I am running Windows 11 Ver 25H2 build 26200.7171/

When was the last time it worked properly?

Do you know what firmware it is running?

Normally you'd see the IP address on the display, and not the mac address.

First go into "turn windows features on or off" and the PC and make sure the CIFS 1.0/SMB client is enabled there.

Are you sure this is a timeout, and not an SSL version/Cipher mismatch error?

Have you tried using RAIDar to get more status?

      Hi StephenB,

Thank you for responding to my question.

My Windows 11 update was installed on January 2, 2025. I was able to access the ReadyNAS several times between January and August, and it worked fine during those months. However, after a minor update a few weeks ago, my ReadyNAS stopped working.

I opened "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel and found "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support." Under that section:
      - "SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal" is enabled
      - "SMB 1.0/CIFS Client" is enabled
      - "SMB 1.0/CIFS Server" was disabled. I enabled this option, but Windows still does not detect my ReadyNAS.

Finally, I tried RAIDar versions 4.3.8 and 6.5, but neither was able to find any NETGEAR storage on my network.

Recommended settings for the NV+ are

        • Automatic Removal: disabled
        • Client: enabled
        • Server"disabled

Do you have internet security or antivirus software running on the PC?  If you do, try disabling it and run RAIDar again.

Can you double check that it is a connection timed out, and not something else?

        Can you ping the NAS?

Did you scroll through the LCD screen looking for issues?  You should also be able to see the firmware version on the NAS on that screen.  Though you may need to reboot the NAS and watch the screen during the boot process to see it.
