Yes, I mean the advanced CIFS permissions at the bottom of the CIFS tab, not the advanced share options tab.
Regarding what settings to use, like I said leave it in it's default state just to verify that's working correctly for you as I'm not entirely sure if the problem you were having is that users other than the owner can't write, or the owner can't write(save in this instance) after opening a file due to what was said in the other thread(and why I wanted everything sorted out).
