I don't have the Pro version of Windows 8.1 so there is no option to get to the group policy editor. So what I did was to remove and re-install the network adapter and UN-checked the IPV6 option for the adapter. I initially tried just disabling the IPV6 but that didn't work. I had to update the network driver and then disable IPV6. If I re-enabled IPV6 the NAS disappeared again.
