Windows 8.1 Share Connection Issue

I am using a ReadyNas RN102 and I like it alot. However, my PC, ON REBOOT does not connect to the network drive and I have a large red X through the drive mapping. What I noticed are 2 things;

1. if I click on the drive it immediately connects (I have my credentials saved)
2. Even though the red X is there on drive Z, Windows 8 History still pushes data to the RN102 which is what Drive Z is mapped to.

I have read dozens of posts on the net with the same issue all starting with Windows 7 but no one has a fix. There were a bunch of suggestion but none worked or they were just goofy. So I figured this forum might have a possibility to offer some suggestions or a possible tried and true fix?

Thanks for any and all help you can provide. :D

    It goes back to windows XP actually.

    My advice is just to live with it.

    I think I just figured it out. Seems if I reboot and log in immediately (as soon as I see the login screen.. which is super fast on windows 8 using an ssd) I get the error connecting to the network drive. However, if I reboot the machine and let it sit at the logon screen for just 10 second, I login and the drive is mounted/connected. FWIW,I will live with slowing my life down 10 more seconds after a reboot!

    To be more specific, if you log into windows before the network connects, you will get this error. If (using windows 8 ) wait until the little network icon on the login page shows connected (loses the yellow triangle) then you are good to go. That only took 4 seconds or less.

    That is the main cause I've seen posted. It can take longer to connect to the network, especially with wifi.

    Not sure it is worth waiting around myself, since the mapped drive still works fine when you click on it.
